As a software engineer, I design solutions and craft their implementation. My inquisitive nature enables me to solve multi-disciplinary problems. I am a strategic thinker and thought leader who thrives on the energy of diverse teams bent on solving problems.
Project 1: Bus.ly
My first individual WDI project was built during Week 5 over a one-week sprint. The site is built exclusively on Ruby on Rails.
Bus.ly is a basic bus stop prediction application, which provides users with WMATA predictions for the Metro Bus System.
Our group project was built during Week 7 just after learning JavaScript. Partify is built primarily with JavaScript and Ruby on Rails. More than a playlist, Partify is a mobile-responsive social playlist. It allows guests to join a host's central playlist (connected to speakers) and add songs from their smart phones. Guests can upvote songs to move it towards the top of the playlist.
Not only was the app fun to build, but coding as a team was incredibly rewarding. I think we are all proud of our app, especially now that it is the centerpiece of General Assembly D.C. happy hours.
My final project was the toughtest of the course. It was built primarily on Ruby on Rails and Backbone.js. The app ingests crime data from the D.C. Open Data Catalog and plots it on Google Maps. This was my first project where architectural concerns played an important role (should I geocode on the client side or backend).
